Elizabeth Ann Whitehouse Chickering passed away April 16, 2025, in the comfort of her home with her family. She was born on September 22, 1933, in
Keene, NH at the Elliott Community Hospital, the daughter of Charles Ellsworth Whitehouse and Alice Larson Whitehouse. She was a graduate of Symonds School, Keene High, and Keene State College. She graduated with a degree in Elementary Education, and Master's Degrees in Early Childhood Education and Curriculum and Instruction.
She was a teacher and taught on Long Island, Walpole, NH and finally returned to her roots and taught at Symonds School for 38 years. She impacted the lives of many children who crossed her path over the years.
As a long time 4-H Leader she was instrumental in starting the Cheshire County 4-H Horse Leaders Association. She was also very active on the State and New England level as she supported her children in the horse, dairy and working steer projects. She was a recipient of the 4-H Lifetime Achievement award which recognizes people who have had a significant impact on the 4-H youth in Cheshire County.
She was a long-time horse lover. She bred and owned Morgan horses at her Meadowair Farm in Walpole, NH for over 60 years. She enjoyed riding in her youth and driving her Morgans both at home and in the show ring as well. In her younger days she marshalled racehorses at the Hinsdale track.
She was married in February of 1958 to Arthur H Chickering of Westmoreland, NH who predeceased her. She is survived by her four children: Andrea A. Sawyer and her husband, Sheldon, of Walpole; Arthur H. Chickering III of Westmoreland; Alison M. Chickering of Walpole; and Charles S. Chickering of Walpole. Six grandchildren: Adam Welch; Hanna Welch and her partner Vincent Madore; Joanne Chickering and her husband, Ken Leach; Chelsey Croteau; Jessica Chickering; and Suzanne Chickering; along with four great-grandchildren: Annabelle, Afton, Merritt, and Margaret, many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Jeanette Hahn, her brother Frederick Whitehouse, and her grandson Justin Mack.

Funeral Services will be held April 24, 2025, at 10:30 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 100 Maple Ave.,
Keene, NH. followed by the burial in the New Walpole Cemetery and a reception at Alyson's Orchard in Walpole, NH
