Elizabeth “Beth” Christensen, PMH-RN, passed away peacefully at her home in Burke, VA, on November 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of family and friends. Born October 2, 1971 in Fairfax, VA, she is the daughter of Marie (Mancini) Kern and the late John Sherman Kern.
Beth devoted her career as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Registered Nurse, where she touched countless lives with compassion, patience, and unwavering empathy. Born with a kind heart and naturally generous spirit, Beth’s work was more than a profession, it was an extension of who she was. She believed deeply in treating every person with dignity, and her kindness left an indelible impact on all who knew her.
Beth found joy in life’s simple pleasures, particularly in nature. She loved the beach and Shenandoah Valley, where she felt most at peace. Beth also had a special place in her heart for dogs, which she constantly surrounded herself with.
Her amazing sense of humor and warm presence brought comfort and laughter to her family, friends, loved ones, and coworkers alike. The lifelong friendships she built stand as a true testament to her beautiful soul and the generous life she lived.
Above all, Beth’s greatest pride and joy is her daughter, Emily Christensen, the absolute love of her life. Her devotion as a mother was evident in every moment they shared, and in every decision she made. Beth will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and grace.
Beth is survived by her daughter Emily Christensen, her mother Marie Kern, sister Amanda Kern, brother John Kern Jr, sister-in-law Kimberly Kern, along with many cousins and 4 nieces.
We invite you to share a favorite memory or photo of Beth, as we hope to create a memory book for her daughter, giving her a lasting way to feel her mother’s love and the incredible impact she had.
A celebration of Beth’s life will be held Saturday, November 29th from 11 - 3 PM at Caboose Commons, Fairfax VA.
