Elizabeth McRae Dudley

Elizabeth McRae Dudley, affectionately known as "Mac" or "Bets", passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the age of 95.
Born at Locust Level Farmhouse in Cumberland County, VA, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Helen D. McRae. She attended Churchland High School, where she graduated Salutatorian, before going on to attend the University of Richmond at the Westhampton Campus.
In 1951 she married Roy L. Dudley at Churchland Baptist Church in Chesapeake, VA. Together they would go on to become the co-founders and former owners of Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Suffolk, VA.
Mac was also a member of The Episcopal Church of The Good Shepherd, and a longtime member of Norfolk Yacht and Country Club. She and her husband Roy were avid boaters and enjoyed numerous trips up and down the east coast on their yacht Digger V. Mac especially enjoyed reading, studying the Bible and her needlework.
Mac is predeceased by her loving husband, Roy L. Dudley, her children R. Lee Dudley, Jr and Marsha M. Dudley, and her siblings, James A. McRae, Jr. and Paul E. McRae.
Left to cherish Mac's memory is her son, Armistead "Ted" Dudley and his wife Page, her daughter-in-law, Carol M. Dudley, her granddaughter Mariah D. Rodriguez and her husband Alex, as well as her great-grandchildren, Cas and Colt Rodriguez, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held for Mac on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at 2:00pm at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Norfolk. In a private family service, Mrs. Dudley will be entombed at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in the Roy W. Dudley Family Room.
The family would like to thank the staff of Preferred Care, especially Nicole, Yolanda, Shabonna, Angelica, and Johnette for their care of Mac. They would also to thank Mary King and Ellyn Place for their years of devoted care and friendship.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Children's Hospital of The Kings Daughters, Good Shepard Episcopal Church or a charity of choice.
