Elizabeth Fournier Obituary

Elizabeth (Sfreddo) Fournier
Elizabeth (Sfreddo) Fournier, Bette, age 90, of Enfield, CT passed away peacefully on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Johnson Memorial Hospital, accompanied by her family.
Elizabeth was born August 13, 1934, in Stafford, CT, to the late Louis and Florence (DaDalt) Sfreddo. She graduated from Stafford High School in 1952, where she served as Class Secretary. Soon after, she moved to Hartford, CT where she lived with her beloved aunt and worked at the Traveler's Insurance Company. In 1959, she married Richard, her loving husband of 65 years, and devoted her life to home and family.
A woman of faith, she was a founding member of Holy Family Church in Enfield and gave of her time and treasure to Catholic initiatives for many years.
Bette was humble and unassuming. She found joy in the successes of her immediate and extended family. She took great care and pride in finding and giving the perfect card and gift for special occasions.
Blessed with an incredible memory until her final days, she was an avid reader/viewer of current news and spiritual publications/programming.
Elizabeth will be remembered as a willful soul, devoted wife, loving mother, caring sister, and thoughtful aunt and grandmother. She leaves behind her son, Richard E. Fournier, Jr., and his wife, Karen, and her four precious grandchildren, who referred to her as "Nonny": Ryan and his wife, Zoila; Alyssa and her husband, Eduardo; Danielle and her wife, Mandi; and Paige and her partner, Josh. She was a proud great-grandmother to Charlie and Viviana Fournier. She is also survived by her treasured sister Brenda Simons, her twin brother Robert Sfreddo, and sister-in-law Collette Sfreddo. Affectionately calling her "Zia" or Bette, she also leaves behind many dear nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard E. Fournier Sr.; brother-in-law, Thomas Simons; sister-in-law Jeannette Campbell and her husband, Bob; as well as niece, Gail Campbell.
Her family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Evergreen Healthcare Center and Johnson Memorial Hospital for the support they gave Elizabeth and her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Edward Church, 55 High St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial at St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT will be private.

Remembering Betty many years in Enfield. I was her hairdresser many years and it was a highlight of my day when she came to the salon. She was quiet, unassuming, always gracious with the big smile to light up any room. She did so much for so many with genuine kindness and appreciation for all the little things of life. An honor to know her.
