Elizabeth (Betty) Fritzler, 96, of Merino, completed her earthly journey on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, in Sterling – just a few days before her 97th birthday. Betty requested that no formal services be held. She believed that how people treat each other when they are alive is more important than "flowery" words after they pass away.
Betty was the youngest of four children born to Henry and Elizabeth (Foos) Michel on the family farm near Atwood. In January 1947, she married Harold Fritzler and began her life as a farmer's wife and later the loving mother of their three children, Shirley, Beverly and Brian. She and Harold were married for nearly 70 years before his passing. Betty was the last living person among her siblings and their spouses and Harold's siblings and their spouses.
She was preceded in death by sons-in-law Lee Crawford and Roger Buckler and her sisters Lydia Fritzler and Linda Burkey and brother, Alex Michel.
Betty is survived by her children Shirley Crawford, Beverly Buckler and Brian (Trudy) Fritzler, her grandson Andrew (Aliesha) Fritzler and great-grandsons Benjamin and Jonathan Fritzler.
"Life doesn't come with a manual; it comes with a mother. If we know what love is, it's because of you."
