Elizabeth “Liz” Marie Arvidson, 89, of Lafayette passed away at Saint Anthony Healthcare on Friday, March 6, 2026. Born in Montgomery, Alabama on July 20, 1936 she was the daughter of the late Willie and Francis (Parnall) Norris. Elizabeth was a 1954 graduate of St. Jude High School in Montgomery, Alabama. After high school she went on to receive her bachelors in Nutrition from Tuskegee University. She was first married to Charles D. McDonald, who preceded her in death. She later married Thomas Peter Arvidson in Lafayette on May 23, 1987. He preceded her in death on December 29, 2023.
Elizabeth began her career at St. Elizabeth Hospital and then at Home Hospital as a dietician. She later worked at Purdue University in Wiley Hall, where she served as a food manager. Elizabeth was a devoted member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, where she was active in the Altar & Rosary Society and faithfully assisted with funeral dinners. She was also a member of the John Purdue Club as well as the Hillwood Home Economics Club.
Elizabeth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her 4 daughters Tammie (James) Monger, Terrie Toth, Tilara (Steve) Treece and Melissa Mickle; grandchildren, Blair (Ryan) Bell, Peter (Ashley) Monger, Elizabeth Monger, Tyler (Tori) Monger, Taylor Treece, Megan, Marcie and Mason Mickle; great-grandchildren, Lyla Bell, Ellia & Reese Monger; nephews Eric & Michael Curry, who brought her immense joy and pride.
She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, Pete Arvidson as well as her sister Willie Mae Curry.
Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 PM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church on Monday, March 16 2026. Interment will be at a later date.
