Gary Allen Magnusen, 83, of Lafayette, passed away on February 25, 2026, at his residence in Lafayette. Born on October 13, 1942, he was the son of the late Nels Magnusen and Alberta Magnusen.
Gary proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Following his military service, he built a dedicated career as a computer analyst at Lafayette Home Hospital, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his profession. He went on to be a programmer and computer analyst at Alcoa, where he later retired.
In 1964, Gary married the love of his life, Jean Magnusen, and together they shared many years of marriage filled with devotion and partnership.
Gary is survived by his wife, Jean Magnusen; his four children, Todd Magnusen, Madeline (Eric) Sandberg, Helen (Kevin) Krsul, Timothy (Elizabeth) Magnusen; his brother Nels (Dorothy) Magnusen; his sisters Judy Shepard, Janet Washburn, and Marjorie Searl; 8 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nels and Alberta Magnusen; sister Kathy May; brother-in-laws Ray Shepard, Len Washburn, and Rick Searl.
Services held for Gary will be shared at a later date. Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home is honored to serve the Magnusen family.
