Elizabeth Louise MacGregor

Elizabeth Louise MacGregor, 87, a resident of the Hillsboro community passed away on July 17, 2024, at home after a brief illness.
Beth was born on September 2, 1936, in Jackson, Michigan. She was the oldest of two children born to Harry and Vera (Connolly) Weitzel. She was raised in Jackson, Michigan, graduating from Bentley High School in Livonia, MI (class of 1954). Following high school, the family moved to California where Beth attended Van Nuys Junior College and UCLA.
She met her future husband, John "Mike" MacGregor, while working at Bullock's Westwood. They soon began dating and married a year later on April 28, 1961, in Santa Barbara, CA. They made their home in Thousand Oaks until 1963 when they moved to Newberg, OR. They had two children, Kelly and Kory. In 1976, they moved to a home with some acreage in Carlton, OR. In 1994 they moved to Dundee, OR. Mike passed away on July 16, 1997. Elizabeth continued to live in Dundee until 2018 when she moved to King City and then in 2022, she moved to Hillsboro to be closer to her daughter.
Elizabeth was a loving and devoted mother to her children and grandchildren, she also worked outside the home. She was a teacher at the Chehalem Valley Christian School, a receptionist for a plumbing and then for Roth Home in Newberg, eventually retiring from Roth Home.
She enjoyed nature, feeding squirrels & birdwatching. She was into listening to gospel hymns, older country music and older jazz. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed knitting, dancing and kept a large garden and a beautiful yard. Elizabeth was very involved with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren's lives. She had a group of friends she enjoyed going to lunch with and she was also an active member of her bible study. Most of all, Beth was devoted to her family.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, a sister Judith Tweten and her parents.
Beth is survived by her two children and their spouses, Kelly MacGregor and her husband Richard Ecker of Hillsboro, Kory MacGregor and his wife Karlene of Las Vegas, NV, four grandchildren: Megan, Michael, Ryan and Abigail, four great grandchildren: Enrique, Lillie, Maddux and Raegan and one great great grandson, Mavric. Private interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Santa Barbara, CA.
