Elizabeth 'Irene' Mazzini was born on June 18, 1945 to parents Bud and Wilma Trisdale. She is survived by her three sisters,Rose Marie Hill,Margaret Sherwood, and Velma Trisdale.
Irene is also survived by her son Jay Callahan, his wife Lisa, and their three daughters,Lacey, Kacey, and Jacey Callahan. Grandson Kelly Callahan, his wife Sarah, and great-granddaughter Harper Callahan. Irene had a big heart and put her family first including being a mom to Kaleo Crawford from infancy, mother-in-law to Scott Crawford, and grandma to Kansas Crawford. Irene's family was one of her greatest legacies along with her impact on the baton community. Both of these loves were closely intertwined, making it a family affair. Irene was often seen traveling to competitions with niece Melanie Sherwood, and grandchildren Lacey,Kacey, Jacey, and Kansas, and always marching in local parades with Jay and Lisa. Irene was preceded in death by her husband John Mazzini 37 years and son David Callahan.
Words cannot describe what a wonderful legacy lrene has left. She created the Buckeye Cuties in her early 20s, a legacy for generations of twirlers, families, mothers, daughters, our community and so much more. Part of Irene's lasting legacy was her gift of dedication. She persevered in all things that she did from raising her two boys, Dave and Jay,raising Kaleo, teaching the sport of baton and owning Lake Auto Parts with her husband John and running her in-home daycare for over 30 years. But one of her favorite jobs was working at the original Buzz's Crabs. Even though she did not have a car, she rode her bicycle from Lake Blvd to downtown Redding mornings and nights and then home to her home daycare. Irene's door and home were always open to anyone who walked through the door.
Irene's passion for her baton students instilled in them GRIT. All who took baton from her walked away with a fun little party trick and a lifetime of grit and a dedication to achieving their goals, her twirlers were taught discipline strength and to never give up. Irene touched so many lives, her memory will last forever and, in the spirit of Irene, remember when life get shard, keep marching on 5,6,7,8...

Irene was a very kind woman. I met her when she married my Uncle John. She had a wonderful heart and always had a smile for my sisters and I. I remember her teaching is how to play `spoons´. She loved to spend time at their cabin in Montgomery Creek. Funny story-her boys Jay and David used to play with my husband, Kevin Markham and his brother Keith before she became my aunt. What a small world.
I wish I would have gotten to say goodbye. Much love.
