Elizabeth Monastero Obituary
Elizabeth Fischer Monastero, age 90. Beloved daughter of the late Robert and Alice Fischer. Loving wife of the late Salvy. Mother of Maria (Rosalio) Bueno, Sebastian Iano (Dawn nee Mossman), Alicia (Joseph) Akers, and Roberto (Anne nee Gaurano). Adored nonna of Anthony and Vincent Surdo; Christopher (Logan nee Haussman), Mia, and Patrick Akers; Sal and Ava Monastero; Isabella and Gianna Monastero. Beloved sister of Robert (the late Gwen) and Ken (Pam) Fischer, and the late Darlene and Marita (Dr. John Spalding). Adored sister-in-law of Martha and the late Joseph Monastero, and the late Gina Monastero. Wonderful aunt of Joseph Monastero Jr., Elena (Thomas Ryan), and Maria (Mark Orszula) and numerous Spalding and Fischer nieces and nephews.
Acclaimed opera singer, professor of voice and opera, and preschool music teacher, Elizabeth lived a life of faith, family, and music. She loved sharing life experiences with all of her friends as she continued to write her autobiography.
Visitation Sunday, November 24, 2:00 – 7:00PM at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 North Cicero Avenue, Chicago. Funeral Monday, November 25, 11am from the funeral home to Queen of All Saints Basilica, 6280 North Sauganash Avenue, Chicago IL 60646, for a funeral mass at 11:30am. Entombment at All Saints Cemetery.

I remember initially meeting Mrs Monastero when she contacted me thru neighbors to babysit for her first child Maria. Of course, Aunt Gina who lived in the same building consistently "checked" on me! Mrs. Monastero was a lovely, gracious, warm and kind lady. I later would see her at the restaurant. Wonderful memories .
