Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Mulford died peacefully on June 4, 2025 at Brookmeadow at Cobb Corner in Stoughton, Massachusetts. She was ninety-one. A beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be remembered and missed by many.
The oldest daughter of Fenton and Maria (Clancy) Fitzpatrick, she was born on April 11, 1934 and grew up in Dorchester, MA. Her early years were spent excelling at academics and caring for her six younger siblings. After graduating from Dorchester High School for Girls, she began a career at John Hancock.
At nineteen, she met and married the love of her life, George Mulford. They eventually moved to Canton. In addition to working at John Hancock and later Howard Johnsons restaurant, Betty also raised six children, instilling in them the ethics of hard work, self-reliance, integrity, and devotion to family.
When her youngest child left for college, Betty returned to an administrative career at the U.S. Passport Agency and was quickly promoted to the position of communications coordinator. After a well-earned retirement, Betty and George left the cold winters of New England for Florida, enjoying warm weather, frequent cruises to the Caribbean, and visits from children and grandchildren. She and her husband spent many Sundays selling collectibles at flea markets and antique fairs.
Betty loved her simple hobbies of playing card games with family, reading mystery novels, watching "Jeopardy" and "Judge Judy," participating in bingo nights, and playing crossword puzzles and trivia games. She enjoyed classic movies and a good cup of tea. She will be remembered for her quick wit and love for her family.
She is survived by her husband of seventy-one years, George Mulford; children William Mulford (Susan) of Canton, Stephen Mulford (partner Maggie) of Pocasset, Diane Morganelli (Richard) of Stoughton, Susan Carney (John) of Canton, George Mulford (Cecile) of Stoughton, and Nancy Mulford of Sudbury; sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.She also leaves behind her brother Robert Fitzpatrick of Orlando, Florida; Boyce Fitzpatrick of Alexandria, Virginia; and Josephine Holubiak of Waltham, Massachusetts; brothers-in-law Thomas Holubiak and Peter Spear, and sister-in-law Mary Fitzpatrick.
She is predeceased by her brothers Francis (Frank) and Joseph Fitzpatrick, sister Marie Spear, sisters-in-law Karen Fitzpatrick, Genevieve Fitzpatrick and Ann Fitzpatrick; and greatgranddaughter Lyla Toland.
Funeral services will be private for the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

To all in the Mulford Family-
I give you all my deepest condolences on the loss of your mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. It was such a pleasure to have known her, and to have her as one of my patients. She was so blessed to have such a caring and supportive family and that speaks to how blessed you were to have had such a caring and loving mother. Thank you for giving me the privilege of being a part of her care.
Praying for God's comfort for all of you.
Sincerely,
Karen Bugaj, DNP

My Dear Sister, Betty: You were always Mom's (Molly's), right hand in the raising of the rest of the clan. From the time we were able to walk and talk you were the go to person for help in tying our shoelaces, saying our
prayers and tending to chores. A beautiful young woman, inside and out,
who met the love of your life in wonderful George and had a romance of
over 70 years. May God have rest on your soul and grant you eternal peace. Love you, your brother Bob, and thanks for the memories.
