A celebration of life for Elizabeth Marie O'Brien, 65, of Chariton, will be held, Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Williamson Community Center in Williamson, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Derrick O'Brien for a dedicated remembrance to be created at a later date.

Elizabeth was born June 28, 1960, in Albia, Iowa, to Mary and Dean Dawson. Liz served in the Armed Forces after attending Chariton High School with the class of 1978. She was blessed with her only child, Derrick Dean O'Brien on December 22, 1982.

Liz worked for several years at the VA in Knoxville, Iowa, as a registered nurse prior to moving to Texas and spending the last 19 years with her life partner, Doug Crawford. Liz spent her remaining years working as a manager for Allied Universal Security in Harlingen, Texas.

She passed away on August 18, 2025, at her home. Liz was proceeded in death by her parents, Mary and Dean.

She is survived by her husband, Doug Crawford of Texas, son, Derrick (Tara) O'Brien of Colorado, sister, Debbie (Steve Davis) Evans of Chariton, brothers, Dean (Jackie Miller) Dawson of Creston and Rick (Jennie) Dawson of Indianola. Liz adored her 3 grandchildren, Kylie O'Brien, Easton O'Brien, and Paisley James O'Brien.
