Elizabeth Lucille Roncace (née Gilmartin), lovingly known as Bette, of Cherry Hill, NJ, passed away on October 8, 2024, at the age of 89.
Born on October 29, 1934, in Atlantic City, NJ, Bette graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1954 and later earned her Nursing Certificate from Temple University. She met the love of her life, Emilio Roncace, then a Jefferson medical student. During his tour with the United States Navy, they were married (1963) and shared a beautiful life together, raising four children: Tracie, Scott, Craig, and Betsy.
Bette cherished her role as a mother and embraced every moment with her family. She was a proud Mimi to her eleven grandchildren and a great-grandchild, filling their lives with endless love and affection. Her bonds extended far beyond her immediate family, and she was deeply loved by her siblings, nieces, and nephews.
Later in her career, Bette worked in infection control at a pediatric facility in Voorhees, NJ. She was an active member of the Doctor's Wives Auxiliary of West Jersey Hospital and contributed greatly to her community.
A talented artist, Bette's passion for oil painting brought joy to her family, and her artwork is proudly displayed in the homes of her children and grandchildren. She was a true lover of life, enjoying time at the beach, skiing, golfing, singing, and, of course, spoiling her loved ones. Always stylish and full of grace, Bette was a fashionista at heart.
She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Jane (Moran) Gilmartin, her children Scott and Betsy Roncace, and her siblings Lucille Marrone, Thomas Gilmartin, Marge Case, Mary Brandel, and Jane Friedley.
Bette's loving spirit will be forever cherished by her husband of 61 years, Emilio, and her children, Tracie Ferra (Steve) and Craig Roncace (Deborah), as well as her daughter-in-law Teddy Kelleher (Kevin). She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Nicholas Ferra, Julia Ferra (Marcelo Morales), Betsy Ferra, Emma Roncace, Maura Roncace, Isabelle Roncace, Abigail Roncace, Phillip Roncace, Tanner Roncace, Olivia Roncace, and Ethan Roncace, and her great-granddaughter Camila Morales. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place on November 16, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM at Holy Eucharist Parish, located at 344 Kresson Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034. A Mass will follow at 12:00 PM. Interment will be held immediately after at Locustwood Cemetery.
