Elizabeth “Ellen” (Brainard) Schneider, 83, of Newton, Kansas passed away on October 17, 2023 at Paramount Community Living and Rehab.
She was born November 30, 1939, in Newton, Kansas, the daughter of Roy and Lena (Nickel) Brainard. On June 14, 1958, she married Lavern “Skeet” Schneider in Newton, Kansas. They were married for 55 years prior to his death in 2013. They owned Skeet’s Repair & Service for 35 years before retiring in 2005. She enjoyed genealogy and her time volunteering at Harvey County Historical Society.
Ellen is survived by her children; Ronald (Jeana) Schneider of Hesston, Valerie Schneider (John Dowling) of Phoenix, and Cheryl (Bryan) Kristenson of Newton; sisters, Beverly Willems and Susie Ashcraft of Newton; brother Roy Brainard of Garden City; grandchildren, Clint (Liz) Schneider, Rachelle Schneider (Josh Atkins) and Scott (Tabby) Kristenson; great-grandchildren, Angelica and Leonard Schneider. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother Robert Brainard.
A gathering to celebrate her life will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Petersen Family Funeral Home.
