Services for Donna L. Schneider, 91, of Chariton, will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be held at Chariton Cemetery following the service.
On August 2, 1934, Donna was born to Thomas and Hazel McDonald just north of Russell, Iowa. For many years of Donna's life, she lived in Idaho and later, moved back to Iowa on a farm just southwest of Williamson. In 1953, Donna became a proud graduate of Chariton High School.
Shortly after graduating, James and Donna married in June of 1953 at the Nazarrene Church in Chariton. After being married, the couple moved quite a bit as Donna worked for the United Airlines flight kitchen, back when flying was extravagant and they had great food - probably because Donna was such a great cook.
Not only was Donna a good cook, but she also had a strong passion for it. She was an excellent baker and seamstress as well. She worked hard at everything she did and never let anyone down.
A woman of deep faith, unwavering love, and endless generosity, Donna was known for her kind heart, and her passion for doing for others. Donna lived a life of service and always gave her time and talent to help those around her, which included teaching Sunday school.
Donna was a big supporter of her family and always supported those special in her life. She would often bring cake to Ellen's nursing classes. The students and professors were always excited for the specialty cakes. Donna also made them for everyone and lots of kids with special themes.
Donna will be deeply missed by her husband, James Schneider; children, John (Sharon) Schneider and Ellen Schneider; brother, Bob McDonald and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents: Thomas and Hazel (Duckworth) McDonald and siblings: Clell McDonald, Frank McDonald, and Jean Halter. To send flowers to the family of Donna, please visit our floral store.
