A service to honor Kathy Rouse will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Chariton. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., prior to the service. Interment will follow at Goshen Cemetery, with a luncheon to be held afterward at the church.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family, who will thoughtfully designate them at a later date in accordance with Kathy's wishes.
Kathy Kay Haltom Rouse born February 18, 1948, in Albia, Iowa to Glenn Haltom and Tharon Wignall Haltom. Kathy was the granddaughter of John and Eulah Haltom and Albert and Ruth Wignall.
Kathy grew up in Lucas County and attended Puckerbrush Country School through eighth grade. She graduated from Chariton High School in 1966. After high school, Kathy went on to attend Centerville Community College and graduated with an LPN nursing degree in August 1967.
In November 1967, Kathy married Jerry Dean Rouse, and they were blessed with two sons, William Stuart and James Brent.
Kathy's relationship with God was very important to her. On November 1, 1970, she was baptized at Goshen Baptist Church.
For 21 years, Kathy worked for the United States Postal Service. Serving as Postmaster for 14 of those years in Lucas, Iowa. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, flowers, and hunting with her husband. She liked to cook and bake, but most of all enjoyed her grandchildren.
Preceding Kathy in death are her parents and grandparents.
Left to cherish her memory, her husband Jerry, son Stuart (Jayne), Abbi, Brady, Sophia, and Isabelle. Son Brent (Andrea), Alexander, Bennett, and Katherine. Brother David (Linda) Harris Des Moines Iowa. Sister Karen (Tom) Banse Waukee, Iowa. Sister Janice (Pat) Dulin Lindale, Texas. Brother Steve Haltom Chariton, Iowa. And many nephews and nieces.
