In addition to her parents Elizabeth is preceded in death by her brothers, Richard and James Wesley; and her husband Tommy Smith.
Elizabeth was a pillar of her community, known for her warmth and generosity. For over 30 years, she ran J.B. Wesley's General Merchandise in Edgarton, WV, a hub for friendship and community spirit. Her passion for quilting was well-known, and she was an active member of the Quilt Guild, earning numerous awards for her beautiful and intricate work.
Above all, Elizabeth was devoted to her family. She took great joy in raising her children and was deeply involved in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, imparting wisdom and love at every turn.
Elizabeth is lovingly remembered by her devoted sons, David Charles and his wife Mila of Fleming Island, FL, and Jim Charles of Huntington, WV. Her legacy continues through her granddaughters Leah Susset and her husband Marc of Charlotte, NC, and Krista Apgar and her husband Steve of Huntington, WV. Elizabeth was a proud great-grandmother to Anna, Atomus, and Addison. She is also survived by her dear sister-in-law, Garnett Wesley, with whom she shared many cherished memories.Elizabeth will be remembered for her kindness, her artistic spirit, and her unwavering dedication to her family and community. She will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
The family will begin receiving friends on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 6 to 9:00 p.m. in the Chambers Funeral Services Chapel in Matewan, WV.
Honoring Services will be held in the Chambers chapel on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Ron Pinson. Entombment will follow in Johnson Memorial Cemetery in Pikeville, KY, with family and friends serving as pallbearers
