It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth (Betsy) A. (Sanchez) Soltero, a
beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away peacefully on May 22,
2024, in Las Cruces, N.M. at the age of 73. Betsy was born on June 27, 1950, in Las Cruces, N.M., to
Martin Sanchez and Helen M. Moreno. She was a graduate of Mayfield High School. Upon
graduation, she moved to Los Angeles, C.A. where she worked as an administrative assistant. She
returned to Las Cruces, N.M. in 1979 where she got re-acquainted with her high school friend and
future husband of 38 years, Leonardo M. Soltero III.
Betsy was a faithful Jehovah's Witness. In 1980, Betsy symbolized her dedication to Jehovah in
baptism. She loved reading the Bible and sharing bible truths about Jehovah God. She will be
remembered for her love of the Bible and strong faith.
Betsy was known for her infectious laugh and captivating presence. Betsy got the attention of all of
those around her with her charisma and radiance. Her presence lit up every room she
encountered. Those who had the pleasure of knowing Betsy, knew of her love for music and
dancing. She could often be seen twirling around at family gatherings, her face lit up with pure
happiness. She had a natural grace and beauty that was shown not just in her appearance, but in
her kind heart.
Betsy cherished family. She was a devoted wife to husband Leonardo (Lalo) Soltero III, a loving
mother, and a doting grandmother. Betsy leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and beautiful
memories that will continue to dance in our hearts. She will be missed immensely.
She is survived by her three daughters, Deborah Gladem (Tim Gladem), Barbie Segovia (Rick
Segovia), and Sandra Soltero; grandchildren, Ashley E. Segovia, and Lyset M. Segovia, Brooke A.
Soleman, Morgan J. Soleman, and Caiden P. Soleman. She was preceded in death by her parents,
sister Barbara Jane Sanchez, and brothers Juan (John) Rios and Santiago (Jim) Rios.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 22, 2024. The funeral discourse is scheduled to
begin at 10:00 a.m. with Elder Jesus Meraz Presiding. Services will take place at La-Paz Graham's
Funeral Home at 555 West Amador, Las Cruces, NM 88005. Burial will follow at San Albino
Cemetery in Mesilla at the family grave site.
