Elizabeth (Betty) Stanis, 98, entered eternal life July 23, 2023. She was born on August 15, 1924, in Detroit, Michigan to William and Mary Nichter. Elizabeth married the love of her life, Alexander, on November 24, 1944, in Detroit. Betty will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. After raising her six children, she became an accountant, a profession that she loved until she retired at 87. She loved watching sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico in the winter and then returned to the cooler temperatures and greenery in Michigan where she would spend time in her garden or reading countless books on her porch. Her faith was an integral part of her life. In recent years, she spent many hours watching EWTN and was blessed to become friends with her Eucharistic ministers. Mike and Camilla. A very special thank-you to all of the caregivers at Courtyard Manor for their loving care and kindness.
Elizabeth will be missed by her children, Alexander (Nancy) Stanis, Mary (Paul) Manhart, Helen (Tony) Palermo and Eileen (Cary) Planck; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Alex and sons; William and George.
Elizabeth's family and friends will gather on Friday, July 28, 2023 at 11:00am (10:00am gathering) for her Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Village Church, 3430 Dover Street, Dexter, Michigan. Father Brendon Walsh will serve as Presider. Her burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre in Southfield, Michigan.
