Elizabeth "Betty Boop" Steadman, 77

July 15, 2025

Elizabeth Steadman, known lovingly by her friends and family as "Betty Boop," passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of her home. She was 77 years old. Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Betty made her home in Stuart, Florida, where she lived for many years, filling the community with her hippie energy. Whether she was dancing with abandon to her favorite tunes or lighting up the karaoke bar at Jensen Beach Bowl, she exuded a spirit that couldn't be ignored. She danced like no one was watching, embracing life with a carefree and joyful soul that reminded us all to do the same. She was always at her happiest when surrounded by music, laughter, and the people she cared about.

She found joy in the simple things-like getting her nails done at Posh Nails in Stuart-and cherished the friendships she made throughout her life. She believed that true happiness wasn't about where you were, but about who you shared those moments with. And the friends and neighbors she gathered in the Stuart-Jensen Beach area were a testament to that truth-loyal, caring, and as vibrant as she was.

Betty is survived by her beloved daughter, Sonya Klempner, and her dear sister, Karen Gregorek of Long Island, NY. She is also mourned by countless friends, who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Les Bucknell (2011,2013), her brother John Bucknell (2008), and her youngest daughter Krystal Steadman (2000). Though they have gone, their love and legacy live on through Betty, who carried their kindness and strength with her throughout her life.

She will be remembered for her laughter, her love, and her zest for life.
