Elizabeth Peters Stephens, age 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 21, 2025 in Hoschton, GA, on what would have been her and her husband Charles's 70th wedding anniversary. It was a poignant and beautiful reminder of their lasting bond, even beyond this life.

Born on August 18, 1934 in Monroe, GA, Elizabeth graduated from Monroe High School in 1952. Shortly after, she moved in with her beloved Aunt Cassie McConnell to be closer to her new job with Southern Bell (AT&T) where she proudly worked for over 30 years. She retired at the young age of 50, having built a career marked by dedication and joyful spirit.

Elizabeth was a devoted wife of the late Charles Stephens and together they created a life grounded in love and family. She was a loving mother to her son, Chris Stephens and daughter, Celeste Stephens along with her son-in-law, Larry. She was a proud grandmother to Bo Guillebeau and his wife, Mary Louise, and adored being "Mawmaw" to her great granddaughter's, Hadley and Lottie Guillebeau.

She is also survived by her brothers, Artwell Peters (Violet), Franklin Peters (Sara) and Ronal Peters (Marie); and by her sister-in-law, Regina Holcombe, wife of the late Troy Holcombe. Elizabeth was also dearly loved by her many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She was the kind of aunt who showed up, cheered you on, and made you laugh - always full of stories, hugs, and good advice.

Elizabeth never met a stranger. Her warmth, humor, and genuine love for people drew others to her everywhere she went. She lived a full and joyful life - she loved square dancing, bingo, bowling, camping, fishing, playing cards and going out to eat with friends. As a devoted sports fan, she could often be found cheering on the Atlanta Braves, attending high school basketball games, or watching her beloved Georgia Bulldogs every Saturday.

She was also a talented crocheter who loved giving handmade gifts, and she found joy in the simple pleasures of everyday life. But above all, Elizabeth loved her family and friends deeply, and they loved her just as much.

The funeral service to celebrate the life of Elizabeth Stephens will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at 2:00pm at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, Grayson, GA. Burial will follow at the Chestnut Grove Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel, Snellville, GA.
