Florence Stotts Magee, a beacon of love and wisdom, departed from this world on November 22, 2025, in Lawrenceville, GA. Born on June 15, 1935, in Paris, IL, Florence was a woman of boundless energy who radiated kindness and compassion toward everyone she met.
A devoted wife to her beloved husband, Donald Robert Magee, the two built a life rich in love and shared experiences that spanned over 66 years. Florence's legacy continued through her children, Cynthia Predmore and Angie (Steve) Bennett, who honor her memory by living the values she cared for throughout her life. Her grandchildren, Kyle (Brittany) Bennett, Jordan (Sarah) Bennett, Gillian (Brian) Bass, and Olivia Predmore, were her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment with them. Her great-grandchildren, Averly, Aiden, Abigail, Hayes, and Declan, brought her immeasurable happiness and will carry her spirit forward for generations to come.
A lifelong student and educator, Florence's journey in higher education began at Eureka College, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree. Her desire for knowledge led her to Illinois State University for her Master's Degree, and then to Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, where she completed her Ph.D. Her passion for education led her to influence countless minds and hearts as a pre-school director, teacher, university professor, and reading specialist.
Beyond her professional life, Florence lived her faith through her actions and words. She found great joy in entertaining family and friends, always ensuring that her home was a place of warmth and welcome. Florence's love for travel took her across the globe, where she embraced different cultures and experiences with an open heart.
Dancing with her husband, Don, was one of her most cherished pastimes, a testament to their enduring love. Her competitive spirit shone brightly on the tennis courts and golf courses, and she remained active with water aerobics and bridge games, demonstrating her zest for life and social engagement.
Florence was a woman of exceptional intellect and spirit. Her loving nature was the cornerstone of her existence, and her intelligence was a light that guided her through life's journey. She approached every challenge with a spirited determination, inspiring those around her to do the same.
As we bid farewell to Florence Stotts Magee, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and grace. Her memory will be held in the highest regard, a treasure cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she has left this earthly realm, her spirit will continue to guide and uplift us, just as it did throughout her remarkable life.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel, Snellville, GA. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 12:00pm until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mountain Park United Methodist Church.
