Funeral services for Elizabeth "Betty Lou" Huckabay Sullivan, 86, of Coushatta, LA will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Fairview Baptist Church with Dr. Matt Endris and Lee Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Monday, September 26, 2022 at Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home, Coushatta, LA.
Mrs. Sullivan was born June 20, 1936 in Shreveport, LA and passed away September 24, 2022. A true southern belle that enjoyed her time sitting on the porch with her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother affectionately known as Baby to her family. She loved her church family at Fairview Baptist Church, where she was a member for over 30 years. Betty graduated from Northwestern State with a degree in Education. She taught various grades for 18 years. She started the first kindergarten at Riverdale Academy. She faithfully served as director of Red River Industries a work activity center for adults with intellectual and physical disabilities for 33 years. She retired at the age of 78. Betty greatly impacted the lives of those under her kind and compassionate leadership. She was beloved by many.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Sullivan; parents, L.S. and Ruth Huckabay; sister, Patsy Huckabay Wiggins; and brother, L.S. "Buddy" Huckabay, III.
Mrs. Sullivan is survived by one daughter, Becky Sullivan-Garcia and husband, Steve of Baton Rouge, LA; one son, Kenny Sullivan and wife, Renee' of Benton, LA; and five grandchildren, Laura Garcia Sweet, Caroline Garcia, Cas Sullivan, Lee Sullivan, and Tye Sullivan.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Cas Sullivan, Lee Sullivan, and Tye Sullivan; grandson-in-law, William Sweet; Troy Murray and Jerry Maynor. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews, Butch Huckabay, Ray Spruill, and Layne Huckabay; and Nathan Scarborough, Edgar Cason, and Donnie Cox, Jr.
