Elizabeth "Betty" Ann [Hewitt] Taggart
CASTELTON-Elizabeth "Betty" Ann [Hewitt] Taggart, 91, passed away peacefully at her home in Castleton, Vermont on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
Betty was born in Schenectady, New York to Henry S. and Anna [Guyette] Hewitt. Castleton was her home town from the time she was a few months old to the end of her life.
She graduated from West Rutland High School, attended Castleton State College, and completed hairdressing school in Schenectady, NY. She actively supported Castleton Community Clubs and events (Eastern Star, Lions Club, Colonial Day) and the Castleton Federated Church.
Betty was a talented artist, expressing her creativity through painting, fashion and home decorating. The focus of her life was supporting her husband, children, and extended family.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Franklin K. Taggart and her daughter Julia A. Taggart McLaughlin. She is survived by her sons George Taggart, David Taggart and Gregory Taggart, her daughter Debra Taggart Eaton, daughters-in-law Suzanne Taggart and Lisa Taggart, grandchildren Michael J. Taggart, Travis Taggart, Anna Taggart Minahan, Jesse Taggart, Joseph Taggart, Matthew Eaton, and Danielle McLaughlin, her brother David Hewitt, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express its deep gratitude to Amanda Sadowski for the compassionate care and support provided to Betty and the family.
A Memorial Service will be held at Castleton Federated Church, 504 Main Street, Castleton, Vermont on Monday, December 1st at 11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Castleton Federated Church, 504 Main Street, Castleton, Vermont 05735.
