Gene Sumner Obituary

CASTLETON- Gene E. Sumner, 69, of Castleton died Saturday November 15, 2025 at the Rutland Regional medical Center.
He was born on August 18, 1956 in Rutland the son of George and Madeline (LaRose) Sumner.
Gene was a member of the Castleton Federated Church.
He enjoyed woodworking
Gene mowed lawns at the Castleton College for several years.
He touched a lot of people in the community and they were happy to help him out.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 2 sisters Verge Walters and Goldie Sumner, 6 brothers George A. Sumner Jr, Bill Sumner, David Sumner, Richard Sumner, Peter Sumner and Louis LaRose.
Funeral services will be held 10AM Saturday November 22, 2025 at the Castleton Federated Church. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery in Castleton.
Friends may call on Friday from 4pm -6pm at the Durfee Funeral Home119 North Main St, Fair Haven
