Elizabeth Ann Vilece (née Hirschauer), affectionately known as Liz, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, surrounded by her beloved husband of 68 years and their children.
Born on October 5, 1934, in Muncie, Indiana, Liz had recently celebrated her 91st birthday. She married the love of her life, Richard, in 1957 at St. Raymond's Church in the Bronx, New York. Together, they raised five children and were blessed with seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Liz grew up in Parkchester, NY, and graduated from Aquinas High School, where she played basketball. After high school, she began her career at Great Lakes Carbon Corporation. In 1967, she and Richard moved to New City, NY, to raise their family.
A devoted member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Liz actively volunteered with the Lady's Guild, Altar Society, and Claire's Cove. She and Richard formed many lifelong friendships in both New York and St. Augustine, Florida.
Liz worked for many years at Sony Electronics and was an avid bridge and tennis player. She even took up golf to spend more time with Richard, sharing in his passion for the sport.
She is predeceased by her parents, Hilbert and Leona Hirschauer, and her siblings Paul, Johnny, and MaryAlice. She is survived by her husband Richard; her children Ellen, Ann, Patty (Mike), Janet (Rich), and Rich (Kim); her grandchildren Tara (Conor), Joseph (Dejah), Thomas (Mary), John (Heather), Laura (Brendan), Michael, and Robert (Nicole); and her great-grandchildren Beckett, Owen, Rosie, and Joseph Jr.
