Elizabeth Jane Wallis, 86, of Dubuque, died Saturday, August 2, 2025, at her home in Dubuque.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Monday, August 11, 2025 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory.
The Funeral Service for Jane will be at 11:30 am on Monday, August 11, 2025, at Linwood Cemetery Chapel.
Jane was born on February 18, 1939, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Joseph Allen Jr. and Marijane (Schweitering) Wallis.
Jane graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and attended the University of Colorado-Boulder and the University of Iowa.
She was the co-owner of On the Square, a retail buyer for several businesses in Texas, and was the owner of Coventry Court Apartments until 2023.
Jane was a passionate reader and dedicated gardener, she found joy in the beauty of words and nature alike. Her adventurous spirit led her around the world as a devoted traveler, always eager to explore new places and cultures. Jane also had a deep appreciation for fine food and wine, delighting in the culinary experiences each journey brought. She was a proud member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, Des Moines Chapter, and a lifelong sister of Gamma Phi Beta.
Survivors include her three daughters, Elizabeth "Libby" McPherson of North Richland Hills, TX, Catherine "Kate" Woodward of Oak Park, IL, and Mary Schumacher of Forest Park, IL; five grandchildren, Cameron McPherson, Julia Schumacher, Arden Shorr, Peter Schumacher IV, and Kiefer Shorr; one sister, Susan (Fred) Kunnert of Dubuque; one brother, Joseph "Jay" (Audrey) Wallis III of Dubuque; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Jane was preceded in death by one son, Robert Wallis Price.
Jane's family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to Hospice of Dubuque for their care.
