Elizabeth White Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thompson Funeral Homes - Lexington on Jan. 3, 2026.
Elizabeth Waddell White, 92, of West Columbia, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Velma Waddell of Greer. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 31 years, Fred Thomas White.

Elizabeth, Fred, and their son, Steve, lived in Charleston where she was a leader with the Cub Scouts, a member of the PTA, and where she worked in the insurance industry. After moving to Columbia, Elizabeth continued working in insurance and served as President of the Columbia Association of Insurance Women and the Independent Insurance Agents of Columbia.

After retiring, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, and taking care of her dogs and cats. Elizabeth had a bright green thumb for plants and loved working in her yard. She could be seen riding her John Deere lawnmower in her yard year round.

Elizabeth was a member of St. Andrews Baptist church and was an active member of her Sunday School class.

She is survived by her son, Steve, his wife, Kathy, her granddaughters, Jean (RJ), and Emily (Thaddeus), and her precious great granddaughter, Ella May.

Special thank you to the nurses and staff at Broad Creek Care Center, Hilton Head Island, for their tender care during the last year of Elizabeth's life.

A graveside service is planned for 1:00, Tuesday, January 6 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Greer, SC.

Elizabeth was a dear friend. We loved to lunch and laugh together as often as possible.
In the past we took several trips together. I have best memories of our trip to San Francisco. We had a very memorable day trip on a train through Napa Valley.
I love her and will miss her sweet spirit.
