Elizabeth (Perry) Bingham Witzgall, 87, passed away on September 23, 2025. Born on August 12, 1938, in Cambridge, MA, to Elizabeth Anderson and George Hutchins Bingham Jr., she lived a life of service, intellect, and warmth.
Perry graduated from Columbia University Law School in 1962, earning a place on the Law Review. She began her legal career in the Justice Department and later transitioned to the Treasury Department. For some of that time she stepped away from her professional life to raise her family, during which time she became a pillar of the Gaithersburg community. Perry served many years as president of the PTA at Gaithersburg Elementary, ran for the Montgomery County School Board, and founded and led local scout troops. Appointed by the City Council, she spearheaded the development of Gaithersburg's historic district and helped author The History of Gaithersburg.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Christoph Witzgall, and her three children, John, Hanna (Lisbon), and George. Beloved by her family and community, Perry's warmth and leadership inspired all who knew her.
