Seneca, South Carolina - Elizabeth Cox Woolbright, wife of the late John Earle Woolbright Sr., passed away on November 12, 2025, at Prisma Health Oconee Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on December 11, 1933, in Seneca, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Clifton Clayton Cox and Lucille Graham Cox. Elizabeth retired from Kendall, where she worked as a seamstress, and later from Walmart, where she worked in the clothing department. She was a devoted member of Townville Baptist Church and will be remembered for her kind heart, strong work ethic, and deep love for her family.
She is survived by her children, Toby A. Gibson of Seneca and Teresa Bridges of Huntsville, Alabama; brothers, Marshall Earl Cox of Greenville, SC, and Don Richard Cox of Westminster, SC; and sisters, Lillie Lorene Cox Gaines of Anderson, SC, and Willie Mae Cox Stephen of Six Mile, SC. Elizabeth also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Col. Jessie Kirkland Griffith III (Jennifer), Sonya McGuffin (Brandon), and Brody Lee Bridges; and one precious great-grandchild, Elizabeth Griffith; and step-children, John Earle Woolbright Jr. and Melinda Gail Bigos.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her siblings: Cecil Ray Cox, Raymond Dewey Cox, Sara Ruthe Cox Edwards, Betty Sue Cox Brown and Gerald Steve Cox; and by her great-granddaughter, Clovie Mae McGuffin.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Townville Baptist Church Cemetery.
