Elke Ingeborg Davis, 77, of Havelock, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern, North Carolina.
A memorial service to honor Elke’s life will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 8th at Munden Funeral Home in Havelock, officiated by Rev. James Daub. Her graveside service will follow at 12 p.m., at the New Bern National Cemetery. For those unable to attend, the memorial service can be viewed through her obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days.
Elke was born on December 16, 1946, in Lollar, Germany, to the late Wilhelm and Margarete Krick. Her true joy and pride came from her roles as a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and adored great-grandmother. Throughout her remarkable 51-year marriage to her beloved husband, Jim, Elke exemplified unwavering support as a proud military wife. She was a loving and caring mother who was renowned among family and friends for her delicious German meals.
Known for her generous spirit, Elke had a heart of gold and always made those around her feel special. Her home was a place of warmth and hospitality where visitors never left empty-handed as she had a unique gift to share with everyone she welcomed. Spending time with Elke was synonymous with shared laughter and a brighter outlook on life. Her outgoing personality endeared her to all she met and strangers became friends in an instant within her presence.
Some of Elke's hobbies included her passion for plants which was evident in the thriving greenery under her care. She also had a discerning eye for brass collectibles, amassing a stunning collection over the years that brought joy to her life.
Elke's memory will be treasured by all whose lives she touched with her kindness and love including her 3 children, Sabrina Allen and husband James of Fayetteville, NC, Diana Kay Davis Golden and husband Randy of Havelock, NC, and Steven Davis and wife Sarah of Newport, NC; sisters, Renate Krick and Giesela Caspari; grandchildren, Becky Davis, Tommy Davis, Katlyn Golden, James Golden, Audrey Kamen, Zachary Davis, Liam Davis, and Kenzie Wilson; and great-grandchildren, Diesel, Cameron, Michael-James “MJ”, Nevaeh, Katalya, Lucas, Gage, and Cheyanne.
In addition to her parents, Elke will join her dearly beloved husband, James "Jim" Edwin Davis, who passed away in 2014; son, Thomas Davis; and siblings, Kurt Krick, Gert Krick, Karl-Ludwig “Charlie” Krick, Christel Reimer, and Horst Krick.
