Ella Bertha Alford better known to many as "Bert", was born to the late Moses Epps Sr. and Evoria Epps, on January 26, 1935 in Emporia, Virginia.

Bert was educated in Virginia public school system. She later married the late William E. Jordan Sr., and together they had a son, the late William E. Jordan Jr. whom she adored. She spent some time in Rowland, North Carolina, also spent a brief period living in Baltimore, Maryland, and ultimately returned to Rowland to reunite with the love of her life, the late Mack Alford, with whom she shared 43 years of marriage.

Bert was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Known for her kind and giving heart, she was always willing to help anyone in need. She was an avid and passionate collector of many things. Bert began working at a young age, holding various positions as a short-order cook and factory worker until her retirement. She was a faithful member of New Hope United Methodist in Rowland, NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Moses and Evoria Epps; her husband Mack Alford; son William Jordan Jr.; sister Hazel Epps; brother Moses Epps, and step-daughter Annie Lee Thomas.

Bert is survived by her sisters Christine DuBose; Eva Moore; brother-in-law Reverend Sam Moore; three granddaughters Tamara Johnson (William); Lynnair Jordan; and Antoinette Lee; and one step-granddaughter Tina Goodwine. Nine great-grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
