Halise Floyd Simmons

"I have fought a good fight; I have finished the race, I have kept the faith". II Timothy 4:7

Halise Floyd Simmons, the daughter of the late Jerena McLean Floyd and John Hester Floyd was born on February 12, 1933, in Robeson County. Halise transitioned from this earthly life into eternal life on November 20, 2025, in the comfort of her home in Elrod, North Carolina (Rowland).

At an early age, she joined Providence AME Zion Church, where she attended and worked faithfully until her health started to decline. She was an ordained deaconess, president of the kitchen committee, member of the senior choir and most important, anywhere she was needed to serve she willingly and without hesitation, stepped in. She served with love, joy and gave spiritually and financially. Since her health declined and she was not physically able to attend worship, her presence has been greatly missed.

Halise was educated in the Public Schools in Robeson County. She was employed at South of the Border in Hamer South Carolina, where her pleasant personality and warm smile helped her to rise in the public service job. She never met a stranger and was easy to talk to, which drew customers to her for assistance. She was a big asset to the company at SOB. Her employment continued at Alamac Knitting in Lumberton, North Carolina until she retired.

She enjoyed spending time with family, especially the grands and great-grands in her later days. Working in her yard was her favorite past time. She loved cooking and being the neighborhood "MOM". She was well loved and respected by the neighbors and the Rowland community. To know her was to love her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, one brother, a son Randy, two grandchildren Jada and Joseph.

Left with precious memories are two daughters Geraldine Bennett, of Rowland, NC, Gezel Simmons of the home; Two sons, Elvis Simmons of the home and John (May) Simmons, of Lumberton, North Carolina. Seven grandchildren; Jerard (Denise) Bennett, Adrian (Felicia) Bennett, Johnetta Bennett; Tenae' (Thurman) Ward, Johnna, Ja'marcus, and Jamaya Simmons; Five Great-grandchildren; Ty'anna (Zyeal) Lloyd, Jace Simmons, Justice Miles, Kayden and A'marie Ward, Israel, Tobias Ward. Nieces; Annise Abrams, Patricia (James) Wright, Julia Ellis, Debra McCoy; Nephews, Gary Graham, Robert Priest. One sister-in-law Lula M. Bell and a host of other relatives and friends.
