Ella Mae Cole departed this life on November 2, 2024, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton, NJ at the age of 92 surrounded by her loved ones. God has given her, her wings, welcoming her to the pearly gates of gold, where pain and suffering lives no more. Ella fought a good fight and finished the race.
Ella Mae Cole, daughter of Carrie Wallace was born April 3, 1932, in Finelyson, GA. She was educated in Georgia school district.
Ella relocated to Albany, NY for 7 years. Ella was employed at J. DeBeer and Son in NY, Kentile Warehouse S. Plainfield, NJ and a private family domestic engineer for over 10 years before retiring. She later relocated to the Bromley section of Hamilton, NJ where she was affectional know as MOM Cole, AKA Mom Dukes, one of the many moms of the neighborhood, who believed every child in the neighborhood was her own. She joined Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Bobby Dixon. Later she joined Wayne Avenue Baptist Church under the late Pastor Nathaniel Benjamin, Jr. She was a faithful member of the pastor's choir. She remained at Wayne Avenue Baptist church with the present Pastor Russell Fox, Sr., until her health permitted her to be home, but that didn't stop her from giving God praise.
Mom Cole loved being surrounded by family and friend. Her house was always the host house for family cookouts and family reunion meetings. Love is what she knew, and love is what she gave. Because of all the love she had to give God blessed her, to be a foster mother to numerous children. One of her all-time favorite things to do was go to BINGO. If you knew Mom Dukes, you knew she loved potting and planting her flowers and watch her soap operas.
Ella is preceded in death by her mother, Carrie James; her stepfather, Olin James; a sister, Hattie Pearl Clark; her husband, John Henry Cole; two sons, Craig Cole and John Henry Woodard; a sister-in-law, Arabell Wallace; and a bonus grandchild, Quantanette Wise.

Trenton, NJ, and James Cole of Poznan, Poland; one brother, Fletcher Wallace of Miami, FL; five grandchildren, Shanita (Devona) Cole, Essence Paden-Cole, Sterling Brown, Zion Cole, Lenaya Cole all of
Trenton, NJ; bonus grandchildren, Tyerell Davis, Unique Phelps, Egypt Phelps all of
Trenton, NJ; three great grandchildren, Jordyn, Lovely,
and Shiloh Cole all of
Trenton, NJ; one aunt, Retha Mae Smith; a special niece, Ora Lee Moreland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, Betty Hall, Coretta Carter, Daisy Woodard, Ida Payton, Devoura Wise, Sharon Davis, and Minnie Austell.
Funeral service will be 11am Friday, November 15, 2024 at Wayne Ave. Baptist Church, 30 Wayne Ave.,
Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hours will be 9am until the time of service. Interment will be at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ.
