ELLA MAY (EDGAR) STANTON
Ella May (Edgar) Stanton, 89, Terre Haute, IN formerly of Centralia, MO passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Cobblestone Crossing in Terre Haute, IN. She was born March 19, 1935, in Craddock, MO the daughter of the late Clarence and Alta Fay (Kinder) Edgar. On August 29, 1953, she was united in marriage to Melvin Stanton. She was proceeded in death by husband of 43 years, Melvin Stanton, on September 14, 1996; daughter Naomi Wilson on May 6, 2013, and sisters Denzil, Florine, & Betty.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one son Solomon Stanton Macon MO and daughter Bettie Crasher and her husband Peter of Terre Haute, IN; her grandchildren Carlton Crasher & wife Anna, Owensboro KY, Casey Hathaway & husband Brandon of Owensboro KY, Stephen Stanton & wife Megan of Macon MO: her great grandchildren Josiah, Kendrick, Ellanor, Linden Hathaway & Calvin Stanton, several relatives and many dear Christian friends.
Ella put God first and was faithful to attend when able. She was a preacher’s wife, who was busy serving others as well as a homemaker. She loved to cook meals for people and was very hospitable. She enjoyed crocheting and made many Afghans over her life, including several for the dog Shelby.
Ella’s granddaughter Casey always looked forward to her homemade Chocolate Pies and snow (cool whip) and still treasures and uses her crocheted blanket that Ella made when she was a little girl. Grandson Carlton will remember her for being a great grandma who cared for everyone else.
She was a member of the Terre Haute Indiana Church of Christ and enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, flowers and spending time with her family, especially all her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the Oliver Funeral Home in Centralia, MO. Interment will be in the Centralia City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at the Oliver Funeral Home in Centralia, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice, c/o Oliver Funeral Home, P.O. Box 125, Centralia, MO 65240.
