"Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies." Proverbs 31:10

Ellen Ruth Stiltner McClanahan, 84, of the Poplar Creek section of Grundy, entered into her heavenly home on August 17, 2025. She was the oldest of twelve children born to the late Frank Edward Stiltner and Pricy Louisa (Lou) Duty Stiltner. She was a retired case manager at People Inc. She was the epitome of a strong Christian woman who was devoted to her faith. She was a member of Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church, accepting Christ on November 29, 1970. She loved her Lord and his churches and helped work on the Bethlehem, Emmanuel, and Little David Churches and took pride in feeding the brethren. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her children, grandbabies and great-grandbabies. She enjoyed many summers spending time with her family at their cabin in Bland County. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, She was preceded in death by her husband Paul McClanahan; son Johnny McClanahan and his wife Melissa McClanahan, Grandson Derek Blankenship; Brother Christopher Stiltner; Son-in-law Marty Owens; Brothers-in-law Jim Houck, Gary Carter, Sheldon Woods, Philip Imel, and Sam Ramirez; and Sister-in-law Virginia Stiltner.

Grandchildren Hope (Mark) Coleman, Justin (Laken) McClanahan, Amanda (Joshua) Shelton, Ashley (Shane) Rice, Courtney (Thomas) Ray, Kristy (Joshua) McCowan, Kaitlyn (Brandon) Grimes, Emily McClanahan (Tyler Stiltner).

The family would like to thank Brenda Goodman, Judy Street and the staff of Family Care Center, the Heritage Hall staff and MSA Hospice for the care provided to our mother. We would also like to thank Tavia Stiltner for the care and comfort you provided to mom before she was moved to the nursing home.
