Ellen Moen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Life Tributes Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Jul. 16, 2024.
Ellen (Ault) Moen, age 81, passed away on July 16, 2024 at North Shore Health Care Center in Marshfield.
Ellen was born on April 23, 1943, in Marshfield, Wisconsin, to Alvin and Delphine Ault. She attended Spencer High School, graduating in 1962.
She married Allen Moen, who was her best friend from grade school all the way through high school, on December 12, 1964, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield, after Allen completed his military service in the Marines.
After graduating from high school, Ellen worked at the telephone company in Marshfield and at the Marshfield Clinic. She also worked at the Holiday Inn in Marshfield when she and Allen came back from their winter stays in Florida. Additionally, she taught CCD classes at Our Lady of Peace Parish in Marshfield.
She loved flowers, especially pink, her favorite color. Watching TV game shows was her favorite pastime as her health declined. She loved to socialize with her friends in Florida and at the Regency Apartments where she lived before entering the nursing home in July of 2022.
Ellen is survived by her husband, Allen, who was the love of her life for 59 years of marriage. To his surprise, several years ago she was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. This had a big impact on their lives. Allen did all he could for her by himself, but when she needed more than what he could do she was admitted to the nursing home. He visited her at least once every day, and sometimes more. He kept her on his mind all the time, trying ways to keep her comfortable and peaceful. She liked to watch Allen plant flower gardens, so she was able to enjoy flowers. She also loved hanging flower baskets outside her window.
Besides her husband Ellen is survived by her sons, Dean (Che) Moen of Washington, D.C. and Tim (Ariel Gorst) Moen of Marshfield; one sister, Marie; two half-brothers, Del and Mike; her grandchildren, Ian, Freyja, Casey and Ashley; and one great-grandson.
She is further survived by her sisters-in-law, Ann Lyon, Mary Gaetz, Janece Olson, Linda (Stephen) Linzmeier and Beth (John) Hiller, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Delphine; her father and mother-in-law, Magnus and Ruth Moen; and her half-sister, Sandy.
Per her wishes there will be no visitation or formal funeral. At a later date she will be put to rest in Hillside Cemetery in Marshfield. Her special wish was to have a nice meal for all her friends at the Regency Apartments where she lived with Allen for 18 years.
The family would like to thank the staff at North Shore Health Care Center for the compassionate and special care and attention given to Ellen. They would also like to thank Heartland Hospice for the care she received from them.
