Ellen Schroeder Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Grace Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Feb. 5, 2026.
Ellen Rae (Durham) Schroeder, 70, of Ludington, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

Ellen was born on June 11, 1955, to the late Murle Durham and Frances (Lessard) Sauers. For nearly 30 years she worked as a machinist at Whitehall Industries. For five years, she had been an intake coordinator at COVE.

Ellen was a beloved mother, known for her deep love for family. Her hobbies included going to the beach with her dear friend Pam Sue (Moberg) Petersen, who has predeceased her, and hosting bonfires with family members. An avid fan of Greek mythology movies, Ellen cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and friends. Her love for dogs was evident, with her most recent furry companion being Roxie.

Ellen is survived by her daughter, Heather Vernier; sons, Ian Schroeder, and Derrick Schroeder; grandchildren, Kaira Ambrose, Jonathan Cusack, James Vernier, Madison Vernier, Kegan Stockton, Hayden Schroeder, Aajay Schroeder, August Schroeder, and Ocean Schroeder; great-grandchildren, Peyton Williams, and Harlan Ambrose; sisters, Karen Miller, and Regina Durham; uncle, Joseph (Gayle) Lessard; and cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Murle Durham and Frances Sauers; stepfather Lester Sauers; and infant twin siblings, Michael and Deborah Durham.

A celebration of life will be held on Memorial Weekend to honor her patriotic heart and love of watching the parade, followed by a family cookout.

Arrangements were entrusted to Grace Funeral Home and Cremation Services, www.GraceCremations.com.
