It is with heavy hearts that we announce Ellen Marie Shalata, 63, of Lake Carey passed away at her home surrounded by family and friends on Sept. 22nd 2025 to be with Lord.
She was born on Feb. 2, 1962 in Scranton, PA and she was the daughter of the late George Eastman and Ann Thomas Eastman.
Ellen graduated from Lackawanna Trail High School and earned her Cosmetology license. She was a stylist for many years at Crosscutters, formerly the Hair Zoo.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter and friend. She had a witty sense of humor and enjoyed taking care of all of her customers and her co-workers became family at the salon over the years. She had a love for gardening, planting flowers and had a green thumb like no other. Her flowers were always beautiful and well cared for just as were the family and friends close to her. She enjoyed spending time watching sunsets at the lake, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren watching them in all their activities and sports . There was never a dull moment when they were around and she loved every minute. She would have plenty of extra kids which would warm her heart seeing the moments they shared together summer after summer. Her kindness touched the hearts of many and she will be remembered for the love and faith of God she shared with others.
In addition to her father she is preceded in death by her former husband Lambert "Dutchie" Shalata;
In addition to her mother she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Justin and Lindsay Shalata of Meshoppen, grandchildren Kierney and Brant Shalata and a sister Susan Eastman of California.
