Ellen Elizabeth Griffith Shell, 86 of Severn passed away at home on April 27, 2024. Ellen was born on June 7, 1937 in Baltimore to the late Arthur and Amanda Louise Griffith. Throughout her life, Ellen found joy in the simple pleasures of working in her yard and helping others. Whether it was tending to her garden or lending a helping hand to those in need, she approached everything with a sense of grace and compassion that left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Ed Shell (Sherry), Amy Jones (Mike), and Arthur Shell; her grandchildren, Jonathan Brown, Laura Elliott (Tyler), Robert Jones (Caryn), Laura Jones, Caleb Shell and Audrey Shell; her great-grandchildren, Lindsey Brown, Nichole Brown, Isaac Jones and Betty Elliott; her sister, Jean McFarland, her sister-in-law, Bonnie Griffith Doss; and her close friend, Charlene McCraith. Ellen was preceded in death by her siblings, Sara German and Gordon Griffith; and her granddaughter, Katie Brown.
May we find solace in the memories we shared with Ellen and may her spirit live on in the beauty of nature she so adored and the lives she has forever touched. Ellen's light will continue to shine brightly through the love she brought into this world.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Thursday, May 2nd from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 3rd at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Friendship Cemetery, Hanover, MD.
