Ellen M. Spaulding, 89, of Anderson, slipped from this life into the arms of Jesus on Jan. 3, 2022, in Anderson surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 13, 1932, in Anderson, Indiana, the daughter of Fred and Bernice (Baker) Janney.
Ellen attended Anderson High School and worked at JC Penney, Anderson Community Schools, and managed the Thrift Store at Holsum Bakery for many years. She was also owner of The Country Touch craft store for many years before her retirement. Her favorite occupation though was raising her children.
She loved animals and had a deep and genuine appreciation for every person she met, and they loved her in return.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Steve Johnson, son-in-law Larry Gwaltney and special brother-in-law Joe Carpenter.
Ellen is survived by her adoring husband of 68 years, Jerry Spaulding; Loving children; daughters; Debbie Gwaltney, Bambi (Harold) Rector, Kelli (Dave) Henry, and son Rob (Lisa) Spaulding; grandchildren; Mark (Jodi) Johnson, Sara Garrison, Mandy (Aaron) Wilson, Bryan (Kylie) Rector, Eli (Ashley) Spaulding, Elise (Gerald) Mickler, Ethan (Mandy) Spaulding, Evan (Kylie) Spaulding and Alex Pritchard; sixteen great-grandchildren; Sisters Norma (Joe) Bonisa and Jeannie Carpenter; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd Street, Anderson, with Pastor Steve Wimmer officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, The Christian Center Rescue Ministries, Anderson, or Humane Society of Madison County. www.loosecares.com
