Elliott Baim, longtime equity trader and sales professional at Bear Stearns in San Francisco, passed away in San Rafael, California. A graduate of The Wharton School, Elliott spent nearly three decades at Bear Stearns, building a career in the competitive world of finance.
Elliott´s professional life left a strong impression on many, and he was known for his dedication to his work. For some, he was a respected colleague and mentor. For others, including myself, our working relationship was challenging. As someone who was living with undiagnosed ADHD and complex trauma at the time, I often struggled to find understanding and support in the workplace. My experience under his and Terese Celine Payne´s supervision was marked by difficulties in communication and connection, and I felt the distance that can exist in hierarchical environments.
In his later years, Elliott faced the profound challenges of ALS with courage. It is my hope that, in facing these challenges, he found moments of reflection and peace.
Elliott´s passing serves as a reminder of the varied ways we impact those around us, both in our strengths and our struggles. May his memory prompt reflection on the importance of empathy and understanding in all our relationships.

Elliott and I were personal friends and partners. His wife and my wife are also great friends. He and Terese Payne ran the Institutional office for Bear Stearns in San francisco. They both became mentors of mine. When Terese gave up running the office in 1995 I took over. Elliott was my partner though going forward. We had a great working relationship. He moved to our NY office in 1995 and I then followed in 2000. We had remained close friends til the very end. EB was one of the best Sales/Traders in Wall Street. Smart, full of energy, and he knew how to make transactions happen. I of course benefitted from his expertise and he mine. I will miss him always and remain a good friend of his wife and family. RIP my friend. Sincerely, Robert Morie, (Bob)

He was a classmate of mine from junior high, to high school, to the University of Pennsylvania. I last saw him in Vietnam in early 1967. We had both been drafted and ran into each other on a street in downtown Saigon. We were both in civilian clothes. I had a rare day off from USARV headquarters and Elliot was in some sort of intelligence unit and didn´t wear a uniform. Very saddened to hear he died. A nice guy.

I am so sorry to hear the sad news following a difficult decline. He enjoyed such an accomplished life. Elliott was my lab partner in Sophomore biology and certainly saw things through the microscope that I never noticed! I thought he was fun and funny and unassuming. I never saw him again unless it was in passing at a reunion. But I never forgot him and of course he still looks like his graduation picture in my memory.

I have so many hysterical memories of Elliott. We met in 1979... I sat next to him for years on the trading desk at Bear Stearns. He has so much heart !
He was the best at what he did. What a personality ! What a sense of humor! I reached out to him in September and he filled me in on his situation with ALS. He was so strong and so positive.
I love you Elliott, I will miss you!
