Elma J. Fisher

Elma J. (Ickes) Fisher, age 87, of Wooster, entered into rest on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Smithville-Western Care Center in Wooster following a period of declining health.
She was born on July 30, 1937, in Wooster to Herbert Guy and Ethel (Kramer) Ickes and grew up on the family farm on Ickes Road in Wayne County.
Elma graduated from Northwestern High School in 1955. At her sister-in-law Irene's urging, she went to cosmetology school and spent over 20 years as a hair stylist. She also worked for many years at Maurer Pharmacy in Wooster where she enjoyed meeting new people and building lasting friendships.
She was married to Donald (Don) Fisher for 24 years, and they had three daughters together.
In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, watching Cleveland sports, reading, keeping up with current events and politics, and spending time with her extended family.
Elma is survived by her daughters Linda Fisher (Douglas Bates) of Columbus and Lori Fisher of Wooster, and her granddaughter Amanda Fisher (Joshua Jones) of Canton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband Don Fisher; daughter Leanne Fisher; stepson Robert Fisher; brothers Robert, Paul, Don, Harold and Clayton Ickes, and Norman, Don, Gerald and Merle Osborn; sisters Bertha Elser, Pauline Shank, Doris Bowers and Leora Bussinger; and much-loved sisters-in-law Thelma, Irene and Carol Ickes.
Family and friends will be received from 1:00 pm- 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 23, at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Drive in Wooster.
A private service to scatter her ashes will be held at a later date.
