Matilda Stutzman Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Matilda "Bunny" Stutzman (Nisly) of Wooster, daughter of Eli and Alma, passed from this life--surrounded by family--to an eternity with Jesus on November 25th - two days after celebrating her 94th birthday.
Bunny is survived by her children: Wanda Abebe, Brad Stutzman, Donna (Tom) Kraft, grandchildren; Tony (Katie) Neuenschwander, Renee (Joe) Hanna, Rissa (Cullen) Bahler, Ermais (Alyssa) Abebe, Senaiet Abebe, and Courtnee Stutzman. She had 11 great-grandchildren that affectionately called her "Gi-Gi". Also surviving are Bunny's 9 (of 14) siblings; Cal(Orpha) Nisly, Harley (Orpha) Nisly, Wayne Nisly, Liz (John) Bender, Dorothy (Ron) Miller, Marv (Fern ) Nisly, Elva (Rudy) Smith, Merle (Rita)) Nisly, Sanford (Emily) Nisly. A dear brother-in-law, Levi Perry Stutzman also remains. She also had 70+- nephews and nieces that she dearly loved.
Bunny was born in Oklahoma but lived most of her childhood in Kansas. After marrying Clarence Stutzman she embarked on a most unusual life for a former Amish girl. They lived in many places, including Puerto Rico and Toronto, Canada, always fully embracing and experiencing whatever culture she lived in. She made lasting friendships wherever they lived and always found a Mennonite church as soon as they moved and immediately adopted its' members as surrogate family-away-from-home. Bunny became adaptable to every culture she experienced while still remaining true to her Mennonite roots; she brought her elite home-making skills, hard-work ethic and gift of hospitality to every home she lived in. She was the original Martha Stewart...she just hummed and sang hymns as she worked.
Bunny was well-known for her love of children, having the unusual ability to love other people's children as deeply as her own. In her 60's she became a nanny - her first job was to care for newborn triplets...night shift, of course and she loved it..
In her free time, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, canning, gardening and watching her grandchildren (for free), and served in many positions at Oak Grove Mennonite Church.
Bunny (mom, aunt, grandma, Gi-gi, friend, Nanny), you left some big shoes to fill and we will miss your smile and bright blue eyes every day, but our loss is truly heaven's gain.
2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith
