Elmer Henry Meyer

Elmer Henry Meyer, age 93, of St. Peter, Illinois passed away at 1:55 p.m. Monday, August 28, 2023 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church with a two-hour visitation prior to the service. Pastor Meyer will be officiating. Interment will take place at Farina Cemetery. Memorials may go to HSHS Illinois Home Care, Farina Cemetery, or the donor's choice.
Elmer was born on December 13, 1929 in Lone Grove Township, Illinois, the son of George and Rose (Myer) Meyer. He married Elsie Reitz on February 19, 1955 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Elmer was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and St. Peter American Legion. Elmer was a Veteran of the Korean War having served in the Army. He was a bus driver for Farina, St. Peter, and Kinmundy area schools and a well-known carpet layer until he was in his early 80's. Elmer loved woodworking, gardening, and meeting with his buddies at the coffee shop.
He is survived by his sons, Brian Meyer of St. Peter, Gary Meyer of Farina, and Ron Meyer (wife Mary Rae) of Iowa City, Iowa; daughters, Nancy Guerrettaz (husband Jim) of Farina and Jo Williams (husband Mike) of Farina; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Rose Meyer; wife, Elsie Meyer; brothers, Victor Meyer and Vernon Meyer; sisters, Irene and Lillian Meyer, Hilda Aukamp, and Geraldine Lange.
