Eloisa Ortiz Obituary

Eloisa A. Ortiz, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, was born on February 21, 1942 and passed peacefully on August 28, 2025 with her family by her side.

Eloisa was born in Chamisal, NM to Sofiria (Arguello) and Jose Leopoldo Garcia. She was one of twelve children. Her deceased siblings: Bob, Dulcinia, Pres, Elfido, Celia, Edith, Alfonso, Jose I., and surviving siblings Arthur, Richard, and Jerry. She was also blessed to have her prima Eloisa that treated her like a sister in her adult years.

She married Pablo Quintana after graduating high school and moved to Utah, they had 3 sons. After losing Pablo, she married Martin Ortiz on October 7, 1967 and together they raised her 3 sons Tony, Pat, and John and were also blessed to have a daughter of their own, Annette. Together they lived a full life, enjoying many happy homes and giving their children a happy life full of lots of fun and great memories.

She had many jobs and enjoyed dancing on weekends and going on many memorable vacations. She also enjoyed being a participant in the Rio Arriba Senior Olympics, making many friends and doing various events, in which she won many gold medals.

Eloisa is survived by her children, Tony (Frances), Pat, John (Missy), Annette (Marshall); and honorary daughter, Margaret. She was a proud grandmother to 19 grandchildren: Mychelle (Curtis), Pablo, Alicia (Sean), Nikki (Michael), Andres (Natalia), Adrianna (Aaron), RosaMaria, Patricio, Leonard, Angelina (Raymond), Connie Sue, Genisis (always her baby), Laura, Tyrell (Maria), Ian (Heather), Zeak (Cassidy), Terrance, Daviana (Jeremy), and Juliana (John), as well as 15 great-grandchildren. She raised her granddaughter Genisis until she could no longer see, she will always hold a special place in her heart as her own child and Genisis knew mama/grandma would let her do whatever she wanted.

Eloisa will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. She will be remembered for her honesty, her stern but loving guidance and for her dedication to her family.
