Eloise Denise Strickland was born on April 17, 1943. She was born in Brooklyn, New York to the late Mae Della Mitchener. Eloise passed away on January 9, 2025, surrounded by family and friends at St. Lukes Hospital in Bartonsville, Pennsylvania.
Eloise married on August 19, 1961, to Thomas Troy Strickland and shared four sons: Kevin, Markeith, Jason, and Jerrell. She adored her boys and prioritized their happiness. Together, they took trips to parks, events, shows, and picnics, ensuring their lives were filled with joy and positivity. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and playing cards, especially solitaire, bid whist, and her favorite, spades. She was considered a pro spades player and cofounded the Strickland Family Spades World Tour. Eloise used to work with NYC Department of Health as an Public Health Assistant. She retired loving to help and take care of people.
Eloise Strickland, a devoted member of Jehovah's Witnesses, was baptized on May 30, 1970. She dedicated her life to serving her creator and sharing the hope and love found in her faith. Eloise instilled in her children how important faith, love, and serving Jehovah was. So important that, if they did not listen she would spare the rod! Her commitment to her faith as a Jehovah's Witness remained at the heart and forefront of her life. Eloise found great joy in the fellowship of her congregation and was known for her compassionate spirit. She took immense pride in witnessing the baptism of all four of her beloved sons.
Eloise was preceded in death by: mother, Mae Della Mitchener; husband, Thomas Troy Strickland; two sons, Kevin and Markeith; two brothers, John Mitchener Richardson and Arthur Lee Mitchener; one sister, Dorothy Green Bullock. She leaves to cherish her great memories: two sons, Jason and Jerrell; three daughter-in-laws: Ethel, Michelle, and Sasha; 11 grandchildren: Lamont, Kevin, Kadeshur, Anthony, Donovan, Tatyana, Markeith Jr., Akasha, Jachelle, Brianna, and Kayla; 7 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; the entire friends, past and present in Marcy Congregation Brooklyn and Mt. Pocono Congregation, and friends in the Tompkins Houses where everyone called her Momma Strick.
