Elsa Kay Roark, best known as Kay, age 67, of Independence passed away Tuesday December 6, 2022. Kay was born in Kansans City Missouri to Russell Motley and Mary (Jackson) Motley.
She grew up in Northeast Kansas City and graduated from Northeast High School. She proudly retired from the US Armed Services after 40 years as an Administrative Assistant. After her retirement she worked for TNC Community as a caregiver helping people with physical and mental disabilities. She had an enormous love for animals, if she could shelter every animal that needed it, she would have. She enjoyed listening to great music from her youth that are classics. Her love in music was very influential to her daughters. She spent her free time gardening and took great pride in her yard beautifying her space with various fruit trees, flowers, and ornamental grass. Her passion for the outdoors also included camping and fishing. She had a welcoming smile that would light up a room. Above all her grandchildren were her greatest love.
Kay leaves behind her daughters Brenda (Lisa) Pereiras and Amanda (Tommy) Stidham, her mother Mary Motley, her sisters Gloria Hackbart and Connie Aiello, her bother Roger Motley, her grandchildren Kaylee Peters, Wesley Hobbs, and Preston Hobbs, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Russell Motley, her brother Russell Motley, her sister Ruth Sevart and her best friend Bill Newlon.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 12, 2022, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Avenue, Independence Missouri 64052 with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time Monday at the chapel.
