Elsie Inez Hooks

Elsie Inez Hooks, 85, of Mississippi, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, in Jackson, Mississippi.

Born on July 8, 1940, in Lake, Mississippi, Elsie was the beloved daughter of Hugh Harrison Williamson and Ethel Bernice Lanthrip Williamson. She grew up rooted in faith, family, and the simple joys of country life-values she carried with her throughout her life.

Elsie was known to many in the community through her work as a greeter at Walmart, where her warm smile and welcoming spirit brightened the days of countless customers. She had a special gift for making others feel seen and appreciated.

She found great joy in tending to her roses and caring for her yard, taking pride in keeping everything neat and blooming beautifully. She enjoyed watching true crime shows and was a lifelong fan of Elvis Presley. Above all, Elsie cherished time spent with her family. Her love for them was constant, steady, and deeply felt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Bernice Williamson; her sister, Lillian Williamson Shaw; and her brother, Allen Williamson.

Elsie is survived by her sister, Daisy Turner of Byram, Mississippi; her brother, Dale Williamson of Forest, Mississippi; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will treasure her memory.

A service celebrating Elsie's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Liberty Baptist Church in Forest, Mississippi, followed by a graveside service in the church cemetery.

Elsie will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her dedication to family, and the warmth she shared so freely with others. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
