Elsie Meadows Hunter

Mrs. Elsie Meadows Hunter, of Richmond, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, surrounded by her family, just 6 days after 94th birthday.

She was born in the Paint Lick Community on January 7, 1932, the daughter of the late Earl & Margaret Lowe Meadows. At a young age, Elsie worked for a variety of local establishments, including, Begley Drug & Newberry, and then for several years she worked for the Madison County Sheriff Department as a clerk in the tax collection area. Elsie was a dedicated community member and was active in helping out on Election Day as a poll worker, something she looked forward to each time.

Mrs. Hunter was a member of the Kit Carson Homemakers Club and was an avid crafter and was excellent at drawing, painting and sewing. She was a member of Union City Baptist Church but in recent years attended the Waco Baptist Church when her health allowed.

On July 14, 1950, she was united in marriage to William H. Hunter, and together they have shared 75 years of making memories.

In addition to her husband, Elsie is survived by: her children, Connie Tribble (George Jr.), Linda Tussey & Terry Hunter (Barbara); 10 grandchildren, Kipp Tribble, Marty Tribble, Kynn Tribble, Lou Tribble, Corie Arnold, Kim Keefe, Rebecca Jones, Amy Moore, Kyle Hunter & Blake Hunter; 19 great-grandchildren, McKenna, Reegan, Peyton, Jakoda, Kellin, Kedryc, Colton, Cooper, Bryan, Johnathan, Emily, Chance, Sydney, Morgan, Trevor, Oakley, Declan, Nolan and Lincoln; 6 great-great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Tina Hunter; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: one great-grandson, Coleman Thomas Keefe; and her sister Edna "Early" Benge Ashcraft.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the Waco Baptist Church, 3646 Irvine Road, with her son, Pastor Terry Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in the Flatwoods Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8PM Friday, January 16, 2026, at the Church.

Pallbearers will be: Kipp Tribble, Kynn Tribble, Kyle Hunter, Marty Tribble, Corie Arnold, George Hunter Jr., Ian Keefe, Lou Tribble and Chance Jones.
